Sandra King O.A.M. was born in Brisbane and is a Quandamooka Bundjalung and South Sea Islander woman. In the 1970s, Sandra was one of Brisbane’s first professional Aboriginal models. In the 1990s she started a business promoting First Nations artists, performers, models and fashions, and coordinated events and fashion parades. She also spent a decade working in the areas of community cultural development and education.

In 2009, Sandra returned to her passion Рthe fashion and modelling industry. As founder of the First Nations Women event Black Bold & Beautiful she continues to inspire, break down barriers, and improve self-esteem and positive awareness for First Nations women. The event produces calendars, fashion parades, community development, and educational and motivational leadership programs. Sandra also advocates for greater representation of First Nations peoples within the television and commercial advertising industry.
